Things I've come to realize in 2016

Working over the Christmas and New Year period has been interesting. The amount of time spent convincing patients to stay in hospital, then running down to the nearest cafe for some Christmas pudding so that you can pretend you're enjoying the sweet shit they've said to you.

Some people take holiday celebrations so seriously, but it may just be that I take it less seriously now.

From this year onwards, I've placed Christmas and New Year in the "unimportant celebrations" category. I mean I fail to see what's so special about it now.

You don't need to wait for a new year to start resolutions. I mean if we all were really serious about accomplishing resolutions, why not make resolutions at every full moon or every time someone realizes Justin Bieber can actually sing???? *gasp

I realize that Christmas and New Year is superficially depicted as a holiday of magical night skies dotted with stars and fireworks aglow, and millions of people in cheerful spirit reunite with their loved ones and stuff their faces with horrifically calorifically high meals - cue photos.

(New York, USA)

(Somerset, England)

Yea, it's a celebration of billions of people around the world synchronously contributing to the carbon footprint.

I've also come to be more irritated at Christmas classics like Home Alone. URGH I FACKING HATE THAT KID NOW... that kid should be charged with assault, sexual harrassment, credit card fraud, criminal damage, trespassing; not to mention, not to mention irresponsible parents and the world's worst security systems at the airport, 5 star hotels and huge retail stores.

Ok rant's over. Time for a drink.
