The Flu.

So far, my immune system has failed me yet again. My nose is blocked and runny, I'm coughing, I'm sneezing and I'm tired. My break being ruined, my bed filled with tissues and snot.

Digusting stuff aside. I actually decided to run to the store to grab myself some meds, because my medicine cabinet was nearly empty. Thanks to the wonders of the Net, I managed to search up the most fantastic sorts of over-the-counter flu medications out there:

1. Phenylephrine
It's a decongestant which has a low bioavailability. (so I'm actually only paying 30% of effective medicine?) Looking good so far, but they added caffeine and paracetamol. which I don't need treatment for because I want to sleep! and I don't have pain!

2. Bromhexine
It's the best mucolytic. Wikipedia doesn't have a lot of info about it. But I'm really glad that I brought some with me.

3. Strepsils
It didn't seem like I had a bacterial infection, but it's worth a shot I guess since I didn't want it to get worse or anything. Plus it has menthol and vitamin C which supposedly clear up the nose and build up my immune system.

4. Pholcodine
Don't know if I spelt it right? It stops you from coughing by suppressing the cough centres at the brainstem. Pretty cool, since it's an opioid and one of its side effects is drowsiness (yay!).

5. Kiwi Fruits

Apparently there were a couple cases were high dose vitamin C actually cured someone from swine flu. But it's controversial, some doctors said it was coincidental, others say it's cure-all. But who cares right? it's only a few dollars a bunch, plus it's good fruit :) and plus i need a major boost to my immune system anyways.

After a horrible first day, second day was awesome. Only have the hacking cough and the deepened voice that's bothering me. great, more time to be cooped up in bed with youtube!

Everyone healthy. I'm hatin'.
